Fake Kingfisher Sauces
It's recently been pointed out to me that fake Kingfisher sauces are being sold in Australia. Above are photographs of one such example. How do you tell the difference? For one thing, the iridescence is very poor and unevenly distributed. The ruffling is different and the glass appears to be much thicker than in the originals. The back of the originals has about a 2 1/4-inch ground base; this one appears much wider. The same pattern has also been seen in pink. Pretty poor rip-offs, but could fool the inexperienced buyer.

Below are front and back of a genuine Kingfisher sauce, courtesy of Glen and Stephen Thistlewood. There is also another version of this sauce that has berries or blossoms alongside the leaves on the front.
