Golden Oxen
These 5 1/2-inch tall marigold iridized mugs were undoubtedly commercial items intended for taverns and perhaps benelovent associations. One expects that they were produced in huge quantities until prohibition. When prohibition was over, so was the classic Carnival era and it's unlikely they were produced afterwards. The example at the left sold in 1995 for $25. Two sold in 1997, one for $3 and the other for $25. In 2002 one brought $80. In 2005 on eBay two sold, one for $5 and one for $13.
